Introduction
~Who is Kiawe?~

Kiawe (Japanese: カキ Kaki) is a Pokémon Trainer and Trial Captain from the Alola region in the Pokémon world. He specializes in Fire-type Pokémon.

He appears in Pokémon Sun and Moon, the seventh generation (Gen VII) of Pokémon games, and serves as a Trial Captain providing guidance and challenge to trial-goers. Together with his Marowak, he studies the traditional dances of the Alola region. He holds that his trials are different from the others and tests the player's observation, asking the player to identify the difference between two dances. Failing or succeeding in spotting these differences results in a battle with his Pokémon and eventually the Totem Pokémon. Defeating these clears his trial and Kiawe rewards the trial-goer with a Firium Z-Crystal, the Ride Pokémon Charizard, and a demonstration on how to use the Fire-type Z-Power.

Kiawe also appears in the Pokémon Sun and Moon anime. He is a student at the Pokémon School of Melemele Island and one of Ash's classmates. He is the most experienced Trainer of the group of students, having been entrusted with a Z-Ring by Island Kahuna Olivia. As a result, Kiawe holds a deep respect for the importance of Z-Rings and Z-Moves. In addition to school, he helps at his family's ranch, taking care of the livestock, doing chores, and delivering packages to far off islands with his Charizard. While he initially appears serious and gruff, he rapidly warms up to Ash and is friendly with his other classmates, though he often balances between serving as the voice of reason in the group and exhibiting a fiery temper and competitive passion.

Appearance
~Damn he’s hot!~

Kiawe is a young man who’s grown up on the tropical four-island archipelago region called Alola. Like several people on the island, Kiawe has dark brown skin, giving in a rather exotic appearance. His skin color, however, is natural and not due to tanning or spending time out in the sun. Aka, he’s the same hue from top to bottom. Due to living in a region consisting of mountains, beaches, jungles, caves, and the like, as well as engaging in Pokémon training, living and helping on his family’s ranch, and training in fire dancing, Kiawe has developed an athletic, muscular body, though he’s more toned and slender than bulky. With well-developed pectorals and rather chiseled abdominals by Pokémon standards (not to mention a firm, round ass), it’s pretty clear he’s a physically-impressive boy.

Coupled with his athletic arms and legs, broad shoulders, strong back, and torso tapering to a narrow waist, Kiawe’s a naturally-prime physical specimen and is constantly admired by others on the island. Sexually, because people are naturally curious about it, his nipples are a darker brown than the rest of his chest, and his penis and balls are as brown as the rest of him, though the head of his cock is more a dusky brown hue. Beyond his physique, Kiawe’s considered quite handsome by others in Alola. His eyes are a sharp brown (can range from almost amber to almost black) can range from dark, to warm, to intense, to calm, to hard, to fiery depending on his mood and what he’s doing, and his natural expression is calm and collected, to the point of looking stern sometimes.

While his body, face, and eyes are impressive enough, it’s his hair that naturally grabs people’s attention. Like many in the Pokémon world, Kiawe’s appearance is modeled off the Pokémon type he specializes in; in his case, it’s the Fire-type. Similarly, his hair is stylized to resemble fire, having a two-tone reddish-orange and dark brown (almost black) coloring and standing up on his head like a flame. He sports four different “flares” of the reddish-orange hair on the front, sides, and back of his head, each spiking upward to stand out against the rising conical shape of his dark brown hair, which tapers off to a point above his head. The front and size areas have small fringes that hang over his forehead, with the back one spiking a little down the back of his head. Just a short way above the temple-level of his head, Kiawe keeps his hair cropped very close from that point down to his hairline at the top of his neck, giving the back of his head that “buzzed” look.

It’s arguable whether he styles his hair or whether it naturally grows like that. Considering the Pokémon fandom, however, it’s the latter because even getting it soaked doesn’t do much to ruin the style. Go figure. His hair coloring is also natural, since his eyebrows are similarly-colored. Kiawe has rather intense eyebrows, thick and shaped in steeply-angled triangular slants. They’re mostly dark brown, but have a reddish-orange streak covering the lower area. Sexually, again because people are naturally curious about it, Kiawe doesn’t have public hair around his dick. Either it’s natural or he removes it because he plays with so much fire, it’s just safer.

Clothing-wise, Kiawe is notable for always going around half-naked. The boy seems to despise shirts; he’s never shown wearing one outside of fanart. But considering Alola’s tropical environment, and the fact Kiawe spends his time training Fire-type Pokémon and practicing fire dancing, it’s natural for him to go around bare-chested all the time. Plus, he’s got the body for it, so show it (no wonder he’s popular). He’s most frequently seen in a pair of red shorts with a black button clasping it shut and sporting dark red lines going down the sides to connect the same-colored waist hem and the bottom hems of his shorts. Kiawe wears a ragged liner of sorts around his waist, fastened on either side of his shorts’ fly with light-red clips, giving the appearance of flames or feathers. Keeping with his fire-theme, Kiawe prefers wearing sandals, his normal pair being black on the bottom with black ankle/heel straps and a red thong connecting the ankle strap with a red over-the-foot arch strap. Beneath his shorts, Kiawe sometimes wears boxers, but usually goes command (naked) since it’s easier to manage and gives him more freedom with his island activities.

Accessory-wise, Kiawe wears a unique necklace made from a black leather cord that reaches almost to the bottom of his chest. The necklace bears a tribal pendant and decorations that are special to him. The outermost decorations are either oblong silver pieces stylized like feathers, or actual white feathers connected to the necklace via metal hoops. The next-inward decorations are oval-shaped red gemstone with the cord running through their upper halves. Both of these surround a silver T-shaped connector in the middle of his necklace that suspends a golden clover-shaped pendant. This pendant is composed of four “leaves” with the top “leaf” framing a large, red gemstone shaped like an inverted tear-drop. This pendant holds a Firium Z-crystal and symbolizes Kiawe’s Trial Captain status. The necklace also sports two thin pieces of cloth that attach to the rear of the cord at the sides of his neck. Shaped like stylized flames, these cloth pieces cling to Kiawe’s shoulder, so closely they are often confused as tribal tattoos on his skin. (They don’t make a lot of sense, but hey, style!) In the anime, he also sports a Z-Ring on his left arm, composed of stone and metal pieces with a Firium Z-crystal etched into its main surface plate.

Personality
~Cool Flames and Hot Fires~

At first glance, Kiawe comes off as gruff and serious, especially compared to his friends. However, despite his grumpy attitude and sometimes-short temper, beneath that exterior is a searing passion and deep respect for the things he values in his life. As well as a generally nice guy with a mature polish and calculating individual. Between the games and the anime, Kiawe serves as a Fire-type Pokémon trainer, a Trial Captain of Alola, a student at the Pokémon School of Melemele Island, a ranch hand at his family’s ranch on Akala Island, a part-time delivery boy between Paniola Ranch and Alolan stores and houses, and a practitioner of fire dancing.

As such, Kiawe juggles a great deal of responsibility and effort in his day-to-day life, which factors into his more mature and serious disposition, but also his respectful and kinder nature. Kiawe tends to live by the idea his grandfather gave to him when he was younger: the flames themselves can also give light and life, and not just to destroy it. It was these words that convinced Kiawe to specialize in the Fire-type and ignited his lifelong fascination with fire in general.

Of his class, Kiawe is the most experienced Trainer, having already passed Akala Island’s trials and been entrusted with a Z-Ring by his Island Kahuna. This Z-Ring once belonged to his late grandfather, a former Kahuna himself, and Kiawe likewise procured his own Firium Z-Crystal; because of these experiences, Kiawe holds a very deep respect for the importance of Z-Rings, Z-Crystals, and Z-Moves. Disrespecting these, or Alolan traditions and beliefs, angers him greatly, to the point that he once furiously chased down one of his classmates and attempted to attack him with his own Z-Move when he discovered the classmate had accidentally lost his Electrium Z-crystal. While part of this was played up for humor, his classmate was terrified of Kiawe discovering the Z-Crystal’s loss, mostly because he knew how the Fire-type Trainer would react, portraying Kiawe to be a boy of fierce respect and fiery honor.

Generally, Kiawe is calm, collected, and confident in his abilities, operating on logic and controlled emotion (most of the time). When faced with an impromptu and unfair threat by three other Trainers, with his own Charizard on the line should he lose, Kiawe displayed neither fear nor hesitation, and stubbornly insisted he didn’t need any assistance when a newcomer to the island stepped in to help. However, despite his self-confidence, he ultimately accepted the aid, mostly because the newcomer wasn’t going to get out of the way and Kiawe simply figured it was easiest to allow it. It was shown afterwards he definitely didn’t need help and promptly took out all three Trainers’ Pokémon with a single Z-Move from his own Pokémon, showing his self-confidence wasn’t just for show.

He is also shown to be quite mature, being the rational and cool counterpart to the goofier and wilder antics of other classmates. When he’s not the one involved in the argument, Kiawe tends to be an interceder and tries to disrupt the fights, whether it’s between people or between Pokémon. It doesn’t always work and if he finds himself at an impasse, he'll step back and let it go, so long as it doesn’t threaten others around them. Regardless, he’s not fond of negative aggression between others.

Kiawe is regularly seen as a very dependable and capable young man. A tireless and dedicated person, Kiawe is greatly involved with his family’s ranch, including feeding and caring for the Pokémon, making deliveries, and even repairing things around the ranch. Past his serious disposition, Kiawe is rather friendly and helpful with people who get into his circle. He is on excellent terms with his fellow Trial Captains and classmates and regularly joins them for both class and for extra-curricular activities. He regularly makes deliveries with his Charizard, both to different stores between the Alola islands and to individual customers’ homes. These people likewise see him as trustworthy and value his efforts, as seen when one boy felt so confident in Kiawe’s abilities, he asked the young man to make a special deliver on time the following day to ensure he had the ingredients for his mother’s birthday cake.

Having grown up in Alola, Kiawe is a very strong, athletic person. He regularly weight trains, as evident by the weights and machine in his room, and hones his coordination, flexibility, and senses by mastering different types of Alolan traditional dances, including a Hawaiian-inspired flaming baton dance. Like many of the islanders, Kiawe is very fit and is well versed in swimming and fishing in the ocean and navigating through the jungles. Delivering supplies to and from the islands also helps him develop his body and strength, something he takes great pride in. Amusingly, Kiawe’s more-stoic attitude also manifests in his physical abilities, since he’s quite durable and tough from living with Pokémon and growing up on the islands his entire life. He has great stamina and endurance, shown when one of his classmate’s Pokémon crashed into his face and didn’t so much as flinch.

However, it should be noted that the Pokémon series generally gives the characters insane amounts of endurance and tolerance for physical injury, mostly for comedic affect. It’s not infinite though, and Kiawe has his limits, seen when he was managed to drag his 450+lbs Pokémon halfway up a mountainside road during a traditional race before reluctantly succumbing to the strain. Ironically, his determination and confidence can turn into amusing stubbornness that sometimes ends up getting his friends and himself into further trouble. There are certain areas that he’ll admit his inexperience in or inability to perform… such as handling crying babies.

Beneath his exterior, however, Kiawe is an extremely hot-blooded young man and can be ignited into passionate flames and moved to tears depending on circumstances. His passion for fire dancing and Fire Pokémon is easily seen in his rigorous training to perfect and learn more about fire dancing and both his expertise in handling Fire-type Pokémon and relative lack of knowledge about how to handle Pokémon of other types; he admitted he didn’t get along with Water Pokémon, despite being an able fisherman, and later, when given one as an assignment, didn’t quite know what to do with it.

Due in part to his hot blood, Kiawe is also wildly competitive, particularly with friends, and becomes intensely motivated during trials, competitions, challenges, sports, and other games. He quickly took off racing one of his classmates as a welcoming party event and has competed in several traditional competitions with and against his classmates and friends. Having competed in and subsequently losing his first battle at a Kanto gym, Kiawe developed an immediate, friendly rivalry with the Gym Leader and promised to return someday and defeat him. Kiawe likes to win, and he’ll be momentarily disappointed in himself for a loss, but he always enjoys competing against others no matter the outcome.

Kiawe tends to alternate between his serious, cool-headed side and his wild, hot-headed side. He most often behaves calm and laid back when the situation is in his favor or when things are dangerous, often being the voice of reason for his friends and approaching challenges with a level-headed disposition and focus. However, when things begin to spin further out of control than he can handle, such as by surprise or rising competition, Kiawe tends to find his fiery spirit flaring up and he gets louder and more energetic. He also has reservations about “romantic” things and can become embarrassed easily if someone tries to initiate romance or physical affection out in public. While he’s willing to admit he’s wrong or doesn’t know, attempting to harp on him about it or continually pressing the topic can rub him the wrong way and get an aggressive response.

He does have some weaknesses in his personality, however. While he enjoys being with his friends and family, Kiawe can become overprotective of the people and things he values, sometimes prompting annoyance from family members and friends who think they can do without his coddling and sometimes getting reprimanded by adults for accidentally blowing something out of proportion or responding aggressively. Additionally, while he has his protective side, Kiawe also has an apathetic side and is no stranger to taking wry shots or giving sarcastic remarks if people get themselves in trouble or do something he finds particularly stupid.

Kiawe isn’t so protective that he won’t let others suffer for their mistakes (family members and close friends excluded, most of the time), but he’s not so callous that he won’t offer them a hand to help them back up afterwards. It’s also shown that, after having ridden on Charizard for so long to make deliveries, Kiawe is not at all comfortable with flying on airplanes, being tense and anxious through the duration of the trip and wondering how the plane even manages to fly, showing a probable lack of knowledge on certain modern technology.

Additionally, because of his admittedly-very-busy schedule and juggling multiple responsibilities, Kiawe does deal with a bit of personal problems. He was fired from one of his part-time jobs and later admitted that he realizes he can’t get help from people when he keeps his problems inside. However, because of his pride in his abilities, his own self-expectations, and his desire not to be a burden on people, Kiawe tends not to let others know when he’s suffering or dealing with hard times. It’s explained by his father that Kiawe has always been a lonely child and doesn’t often open up to others. While the rest of his classmates were eager to assist the newcomer on his island challenge, Kiawe was the last to agree, albeit reluctantly after prodding.

He’ll try to get everything required of him done and finished one way or another, even if it means giving up on something he wants to do for himself, or sacrificing sleep to train. He has a habit of putting other people and his responsibilities first ahead of himself, which can sometimes lead him to get over-worked or stressed. Friends who try to help him normally have only to ignore his protests and just jump right in to assist and he’ll quickly fold and allow it. Like many of the characters in Pokémon, he has a warm, loyal heart under his stern personality and is willing to have fun and engage in a good challenge with his friends. Not just for them, but also because inside, he realizes he needs them too.

Kiawe is shown to be very determined, passionate about what he does and holds a particular pride in his hobby as a dancer (specifically a practitioner of fire dancing). He is proud to be able to continue the dances that have been passed from generation to generation, and has expressed wishes several times to travel abroad to study dancing in hopes of becoming a professional fire dancer. To fulfill his dream of becoming a professional fire dancer and to learn more about the skill, Kiawe puts aside and keeps track of how much money he has to pay to study fire dancing. Since he’s still young and has his duties to both Paniola Ranch and to his position as a Trial Captain, Kiawe has accepted that this dream will have to wait.

And lastly, a bit of trivia about his name. His English name, Kiawe, comes from a species of mesquite tree called “kiawe” (scientific name: Prosopis pallida). The kiawe's wood is a source of firewood and charcoal that can burn for a very long time, and is native to Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru. His Japanese name, Kaki (カキ), is derived from the fruit kaki (柿), better known worldwide as persimmon. It is a fiery orange/red in color and is very popular in Japan. In Asia, the kaki is said to have healing properties. His name also comes from the more direct and clear kaki (火気), which is Japanese for "fire."

IC Permissions

Hugging – Kiawe’s not really a huggy guy, even with friends. Fist bumps, high fives, a pat on the shoulder, playful nudge, those kinds of things are his physical go to’s with his companions. Maybe a one-armed “hug” for emotional support if he’s really close to someone. Now people he already knows that go hug him anyways, well, he tolerates it with a grin, grimace, growl, and embarrassed complaint afterwards. For people he doesn’t know, uh-uh; don’t try. He’ll deflect the attempt or shake/brush a surprise one off. During sex, however, feel free to cling all over him because he likes it hot and passionate.

Kissing – Kiawe sees kissing as something done between people who are either dating/married or intimate with each other. Up and kissing him out of nowhere is likely to get a stunned pause then retreat if he knows the kisser, but if the kisser’s a stranger, expect an irritated shove backwards. If you’re kissing in public, you’re making a statement kind of deal. Even if he is dating or intimate with someone, he prefers kissing in private; it’s embarrassing because people look and twitter about it. In private or during sex, however, kissing him can get very passionate, fiery, and intense kisser, so be prepared for hot and wet.

Flirting – Kiawe recognizes flirting and he can definitely flirt back if he wants to. But again, flirting, like kissing, means something, so just up and tossing pickup lines at him first thing is going to get a raised brow at best. Place, setting, character, and attitude determine whether he ignores the flirt, gets irked by it, or returns it in kind with his own flaming charm. But, the closer he gets to someone, the easier it is to flirt with him and the more readily he’ll respond. Just don’t get cheesy cause he’ll end up laughing at it. As for sex, hell, flirt the hell out of him and dirty talk till his face is a burning tomato. He secretly likes it.

Fighting – Kiawe is from the world of Pokémon, where generally all fights and arguments are resolved through Pokémon battles. He’s perfectly willing to argue, but when it comes to getting into a scuffle, that’s ironically not anything common in his world. However, since most threads won’t involve his Pokémon, and he’s not only an island boy but also a trial captain and fire dancer, Kiawe’s completely capable of handling himself physically if a fight does happen. While he is competitive and strong, Kiawe’s still not a fighter or vicious, so he’ll try to end the fight and talk things out rather than drag it out.

Injuring – Kiawe grew up on a four-island archipelago, consisting of mountains, beaches, jungles, caves, and the like. He lives and works on a ranch, practices fire dancing, and trains Pokémon. All that said to indicate he’s no stranger to injuries. Minor wounds like scrapes, scratches, bruises, and cuts, feel free to smack him with; it’ll hurt, but he’ll keep going and/or treat it. For major injuries (impalement, broken bones, amputations, etc.), send a message first. And yes, the characters in the world of Pokémon do have implausible comedy/plot-related resilience where they can survive severe explosions, falling from great height, getting electrocuted, being flash frozen, and other such things, but unless a thread deliberately wants to play that up, assume Kiawe’s a normal, athletic young man.

Killing – No one dies in Pokémon… But in all seriousness, this is a very unlikely even. Kiawe’s not afraid of death and his region respects the dead so it’s not an alien thing to him. However, send a message first to discuss this if it’s desired for the thread. Kiawe is very protective of the people he’s close to so a protective self-sacrifice is not out of the question. Nor is injury or illness-related death for drama.

Mind Reading – Kiawe’s world has plenty of Psychic-type and Ghost-type Pokémon and moves that can read minds and affect people. That said, he’s not a fan of those occurrences and doesn’t like people (or Pokémon) rummaging around in his head. But, feel free to tap into his brain if it’s part of the thread! There are plenty of island memories, family times, ranch work, growing up, fire exploration, dancing, Pokémon training, island living, tribal rituals, and other things in the exotic region of Alola. Pokémon’s a relatively “safe” and drama/angst free series compared to others, so don’t fear getting mind screwed with Kiawe’s memories. However, do keep in mind that if he finds out someone’s in his head, he won’t be happy about it and might even try to physically get them to stop.

Warnings – None really. Kiawe’s usually calm and collected, though he does have a hot-blooded undercurrent. He might use some foul language, but he’s not the kind to swear up a storm, and while he’s stubborn and proud, he’s not negatively confrontational or aggressive. However, he doesn’t tolerate people disrespecting or mocking him, or behaving like jerks to others or his friends. Basically, the adage here is: If you play with fire, you might get burned.

Pokémorphs & Pokémon – Due to Kiawe being from the world of Pokémon, with Pokémon being sentient creatures able to interact with, communicate with, and respond to humans, he’s likewise completely open to interacting, communicating, and bonding with both Pokémon and Pokemorphs. A Pokémorph is a popular term used among Pokémon fans to describe two things: either a character, usually a human, that has the ability to transform into one or more Pokémon, or an anthropomorphic (“furry”) Pokémon. This term also includes gijinka Pokémon, Pokémon that can transform into human form, and other types mixing the concept of Pokémon and human. This also includes intimate and sexual relationships with both Pokémon (bestiality) or Pokémorphs (interspecies sex). So, bring it on.
